In 2006 LWCA began providing support to families within Leeds with one to one support for their child / young person with special educational needs and / or a disability to access leisure opportunities within the local community.
Originally the Project started small supporting a small number of families living within South Leeds. However in 2014 the Project was extended city wide after LWCA secured a 3 year contract with Leeds City Council.
It is with sadness that Management and Trustees had to make a business decision to stop providing this service with effect from 31st December 2017. Fortunately the number of families accessing this Project had decreased significantly over the preceding 12 months so that now there are only 4 families and 6 staff effected by these changes and these families will now receive support through Direct Payments packages. In terms of staff the majority of the ISW team have stayed with LWCA and moved on to work on our other projects and the others have moved to work for the families directly.
LWCA Trustees and Management would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone involved with the delivery of this Project and know that since 2014 LWCA have provided a fantastic total of 13,476 short breaks hours to families in Leeds.
