Weekenders Club is a weekend playscheme providing a short break for children and young people with additional needs aged between 5 and 18 with moderate to severe disabilities in the Leeds area.

We are a targeted service which means we only accept children and young people with a disability.

We welcome children and young people who would struggle to access a similar mainstream activity. Attendance is one Saturday or Sunday every 4 weeks. We are open 47 weeks a year. Once allocated a group, attendance is in the same group each visit.

Parents and carers provide their children with a packed lunch and drink, drop them off at 10.00 a.m. and collect them at 4.30 p.m. Weekenders Club cannot provide transport.

Weekenders Club is based at:

Vine Education Centre, Foxcroft Close, Becketts Park, Headingley LS6 3NT.

VINEJan2015-004Vine is an excellent venue and provides lots of safe outdoor space as well as personal care suites and large indoor play spaces. We have lots of resources for our children and teenagers including arts and crafts, bouncy castle, ball pool, adapted bikes, table top activities, baking, sensory equipment, garden games, Wii consoles and lots of traditional ball games and sports activities.

Throughout the summer we offer a programme of trips which, in the past, has included: Diggerland, York Maze, Herd Farm, Tropical Butterfly House, Cannon Hall, Magna, Bowling, Yorkshire Wildlife Park and many more. We also welcome specialist workers to the scheme to add variety such as sports specialists or Zumba tutors.

We operate a high staff to child ratio and this is adjusted each session according to the individual needs of the young people in each group. Our minimum staffing level is 2:1.

20150124_093229All our staff are experienced and attend mandatory courses relevant to working with children and young people with inclusive needs. We also have volunteers to enhance the staff team.

We ask parents and carers to pay £22 per session, either by standing order, bacs or cheque payment in advance to the office. If you wish to speak to anyone concerning the above please contact the office on 0113 216 5133.
